Mérida day 1

After leaving Izamal we drove on into Mérida. It's a large city with a very colonial feel. People stay out very late in the evenings eating, chatting with friends and buying things.

Our hotel is an old colonial house that has been remodeled and made into a hotel. Everyone seems to like it very much. It's pretty charming.

We ate dinner and a wonderful place. We had some sort of breaded lamb with a potato salad and sweet carrots. The waiters were pretty friendly, old, local guys that teased us throughout the meal.

Tomorrow we will be further exploring Mérida and we will visit the beach town of Progresso!
